Humanitarian relief for wounded Ukrainian veterans
Donation protected
My name is Natasha Halbout, a Ukrainian American RN with over 20 years of experience. Since the war in Ukraine began, my husband David and I have led a grassroots mission to deliver trauma supplies to Ukrainian medics.
During a visit to Ukraine this past summer, I saw firsthand the suffering of wounded soldiers while I was volunteering in Ukraine’s hospitals. These men were civilians who volunteered to defend their homeland. They are broken physically and mentally.
Often, these hospitals lack the most basic resources we take for granted in America.
I bought medical supplies, crutches, extra food and bottled water (water from the tap is not drinkable). I started a library to free their minds from war trauma. I listened to their stories and tried to ease their suffering as much as possible.
Because many have complex fractures or are missing limbs, they need special adaptive clothing that needs to be custom made.
I am currently preparing a shipment of fabrics to volunteer seamstresses in Kyiv, who are providing this adaptive clothing free of charge.
Now, even with the ocean apart, my husband and I are actively involved in supporting the wounded through my Ukrainian friends on the ground.
We need funds to purchase medical supplies, air mattresses to prevent bed sores, nourishing food, clothing, and other necessities crucial for recovery and return to civilian life.
We are doing small things that are making a great difference.
No donation is too small, every penny we receive goes directly to this effort. With gratitude.
