Humberto's Transplant & Aftercare Expenses UPDATE

Donation protected

UPDATE 1/2/24: First of all, we want to thank everyone who so graciously took their time to read, share, or donate to my dad's go fund me. He received his bone marrow transplant on October 6, 2023. It has been a journey with both highs and lows. By the grace of God, he has started to show improvements, an increase in energy, and overall health! The doctors have assured us that everything is looking great and working as it should. He is finally home and resting, but is still meeting with his team of doctors weekly, required to take medications through his port, and working on gaining his physical and mental strength back.
Your donations have been utilized to support his medical costs, transportation, and other everyday expenses. With the new year ringing in, my dad has now lost his insurance since he is no longer able to work for an extended period of time. We are asking our community and our loved ones for support once more. With him no longer being insured and no longer employed with the city he is need of some financial assistance to support his ongoing recovery. Anything will help and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Please take time to read and share and possibly donate. THANK YOU!

Hello, my name is Desiree Gonzalez and my siblings and I are asking for help from the community to aid my dad during this difficult time. He was recently diagnosed with aplastic anemia, which is a rare and serious blood condition that causes his body's bone marrow to weaken and kill off his red blood cells. He has been receiving medical care since February of 2023. This includes weekly blood transfusions, infusions, and testing; as well as chemotherapy, bone marrow biopsies, and immunosuppression treatments. He was diagnosed with aplastic anemia only recently and was finally placed on the transplant list to receive a bone marrow transplant. Fortunately, his medical team has identified a donor and he will be receiving a transplant within the coming weeks. Leading up to his transplant, he will require another round of chemotherapy to prepare for the new bone marrow coming into his body. Following the transplant, he will be hospitalized for a minimum of 3 months while full recovery time can be anywhere from 6-8 months. Because of this, he will not be able to work. As one can imagine, any time off work causes financial stress and uncertainty. We are asking for help from our community to help with some of the medical expenses, the commute (as he does not have a vehicle and relies on Uber to take him to and from numerous appointments), and to bring some financial relief while he is out of work. Anything that is donated is greatly appreciated and will go directly to getting our dad some help during this stressful and uncertain time. We also ask for prayers during this time, as we know there is strength in numbers. Thank you for taking the time to read his story and for any contributions made. May God bless you all, always.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." -Joshua 1:9
