Hungry Monk Rescue Truck
Hey everybody!
Thanks again to everyone who has been following, donating, and sharing our campaign. If you haven't heard the news, Hungry Monk was suddenly given two weeks to leave our space and find a new venue to continue our community services. We have found a new home at a Lutheran church in Ridgewood near our original spot. We are super grateful to be taken in and are now raising funds to bring our new kitchen up to date and buy new appliances.
So much stuff has happened since we started this campaign back in December. We’ve raised over $13,000, and got a new van with beautiful red and yellow exterior done by Ridgewod’s NY City Wraps.
Here’s what our volunteers have been up to:
-Distributing free hot food at Maria Hernandez park out of our van every Saturday. We also distribute toiletries, and even gave out baby carriers one day!
-Partnered with Ridgewood Bed Stabilization Program, providing hot meals for guests.
-Providing 3 hot dinners a week and Sunday morning breakfast.
-Providing food rescue from Trader Joe’s (weekly) and Ridgewood’s Tasty Diner (daily) & distributing to the Bushwick & Ridgewood communities.
-Cooking and serving free meals for seniors every Saturday in Ridgewood.
-Working with a grant writer to apply to NYC’s request for proposals for small homeless shelters.
Thank you so much for all of your support!!! We are so appreciative of every single one of you.
With love,
Hungry Monk Rescue Truck NYC
