Hello Everyone,
My name is Angela Hurley and my mother is Christine Hurley, and we live in Walpole, Massachusetts. I recently graduated from Walpole High School in Walpole, Ma.. I have been accepted at UNH and will be entering University of New Hampshire in the Fall of 2016.
In May 2016, my father Lloyd passed away after bravely battling cancer for two years. He did remarkable the first 18 months, and all of the doctors were amazed with his progress. Lloyd's medical team was always surprised when my father would tell them that he felt fine. He would receive his chemotherapy treatments in the morning, and then go to his painting and wallpapering jobs in the afternoon. Throughout his treatments, my dad remained very passionate about his family, his work, and his customers.
In May of 2016, my dad was eligible to begin a treatment that could extend his life for up to two years. Unfortunately, later that month we were told his bloodwork was no longer within acceptable limits for the treatment and, after this news, were informed there was nothing else the doctors could do. We were devastated. We believed that this procedure was the key to extending his time with us, while still maintaining a good quality of life. However, on May 26, 2016, my dad lost his battle with cancer and passed away at home with me and Mom by his side.
We are now left to live on my mother’s income as a dedicated social worker, with the reality of large college bills and other expenses just around the corner. Now, more than ever, I could use the support of friends and family to help me reach my goal of attending and graduating from college.
