Hurlock vs. Cancer

Hello to all members of our officiating family. As many of you know, our brother Brian Hurlock was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. Unfortunately, it was not diagnosed until he was preparing for recent back surgery, which was a difficult surgery in itself. The overall prognosis is not great, with two to five years of life expectancy, according to his oncologist.

Of course Brian, as anyone who knows him would expect, has already let it be known that he will beat this. With Brian's ever-positive attitude, effervescent smile and great sense of humor, I have little doubt that he'll pull off one of those Hurlock miracles and do just that. Brian also is receiving tremendous support with life's daily challenges, from his family and a fantastic network of friends in his current home of Murrell's Inlet, S.C. With all of this going for him there's little doubt he'll come out on top. As Dale B summarized perfectly; "cancer may have taken on more than it can handle this time! I imagine Brian will keep his doctors and nurses extremely amused during his recovery."

Unfortunately, with his recent back surgery, combined with the start of his cancer treatments, Brian is no longer able to do one of the things he loves the most...officiate. Also, as many of you probably know, officiating is a major part of Brians's income. Those of you who know Brian well, know that he's a person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone out in a time of need. I know that Brian has helped fellow officials in the past, unsolicited when realizing they needed help. Now is the time for us to return the favor and help Brian out in a difficult situation. I'm asking all that read this, to find it in themselves to help Brian out in his time of need and contribute to this fund. Donating just one of your game fees, or even $25, will reduce his financial concerns, allowing him to focus his energy on this battle against cancer.
