Hurricane Beryl - Carriacou Roof Fund

Donation protected
Hello. My name is Leighan. I'm a British-Carriacou academic based in Bristol. I'm sure you, like me, have watched in horror the devastation of Hurricane Beryl as it has ravaged the Caribbean, particularly in Carriacou, Petite Martinique and the Grenadine Islands. My mother and my grandmother have both been victim of the devastation and lost the roofs to their houses in Carriacou. For my 98 year old grandma, it is unlikely she will be able to live in her own home again. We are all heartbroken, but fortunately, we are in a position to rebuild their roofs. Many won't be able to do so, and this is how we would like to help.

I'd like to raise £50,000 to rebuild at least five roofs across the island. This figure is based on costings from a local builder, and will cover the cost of materials and labour (£10,000 per roof). To maintain accountability, updates will be provided about how the money is spent, and how work is progressing.

Money raised will be transferred to a Carriacou bank account via international bank transfer and distributed to persons in need. The funds will be spent on materials and labour related to the building of five roofs. If we exceed the fundraising limit, additional money will be donated to local charities who are working to support people in Carriacou, Petite Martinique and the Grenadine Islands in the aftermath of such an awful tragedy.
