Hurricane Beryl Disaster Relief

You will all of heard about the devastating Hurricane Beryl that made landfall on the caribbean islands of Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines. The southern part of the main island of Grenada where we are stationed got off lightly but the North of the Island suffered extensive damage and power outages. The islands of Carriacou, Petite Martinique, Mayreaux, Canouan and Union Island have had 80-95% destruction of buildings and infrastructure, the people there have nothing left and are struggling to get food and other essentials to survive, avoid disease and rebuild their lives.

There is a co-ordinated relief effort by the governments here and they are slowly becoming more effective each day. We have registered with # Operation Cruisers Aid and have been collecting provisions for the relief effort. We are due to sail to Carriacou next week to deliver a boat load of supplies and are seeking donations to help with the shopping list.

If you think you can help, no matter how little, these people and their dependants will be most grateful. Even something as small as a bag of rice can help someone get through another day and find the strength to carry on.
