Hurricane Dorian Basic Needs Freeport, BAH

My name is Marilyn Minus, I am a native of Freeport Grand Bahama.  I am currently a US resident and have lived here for over 20 years. I currently live in Boston, MA and I am an engineering professor.  My mother lives in Freeport, Grand Bahama, and just weathered the worst storm we have ever seen.  The profile pic (courtesy Google) shows how much of the island is covered in water, I added the red dot to show where my mother lives.  The island was almost completely flooded. I have set a small funding goal, which will not be enough, but it will be able to help.  I have lived through many hurricanes growing up and have seen my family through others, we have never seen anything like this.  Your donation will go directly to providing aid. 

I am asking for donations to be able to purchase (1) basic supplies to people displaced and in need (water, clothes, food); (2) basic first aid supplies; and (3) pet food for animals displaced.  Our entire commercial areas have been flooded and/or severely damaged.  Therefore, supplies will be limited and may become desperate very quickly.  My sister (who lives in Nassau, Bahamas) is a gerontologist and will be working with medical personal to provide aid. I will be working with her to get supplies home quickly.

I will be headed to Freeport as soon as possible to also deliver supplies. In addition, we may also be able to ship supplies supplies via boat from Florida to Nassau (for delivery to Freeport) or directly to Grand Bahama. I have never started a fund raising campaign, but I am starting this one to help my fellow Bahamians who are in a true time of crisis. My family is in the middle of this devastation and are doing what they can to help, I feel a responsibility to do whatever I can as well.
