Hurricane Dorian Haitian Relief Fund
Donation protected
Heartbreaking!!! We guarantee that 100% of these funds will go directly to the residents of Pigeon Peas , The Mudd, and the long road ahead to rebuild.
My name is Lortir Pierre-Louis. I am one of the many abroad who have spent the last 3 days sick with worry as I have made inquiry after inquiry about my family and friends caught in the disaster in the Bahamas.
I was born and raised on the island of Abaco, Bahamas in the small shanty Haitian community of Pigeon Peas, nestled in the heart of the city of Marsh Harbor. On September 1, 2019, Dorian, a category 5 hurricane completely destroyed the entire island leaving thousands of people without power, food, water, clothes and shelter; with many more desperately in need of medical attention and rescue. Many inhabitants have already lost their lives, and the death toll will continue to rise with each passing day.
Efforts from the U.S. and a few other organizations are on the way, but I fear that bias amongst the Bahamian government and its citizens might influence things when it comes to equally providing resources to everyone affected by this devastation, especially the immigrant Haitians. This bias has already been displayed in the actions and words of Bahamian officials and the echoed sentiments of the citizens.

The history between the immigrant Haitians and the Bahamian citizens has been one of great turmoil stemming nearly six decades. This catastrophe is only going to exacerbate the situation when comes to providing aid and resources equally among the varied inhabitants.
My heart bleeds for everyone effected by this devastation, especially for my Haitian people!
The Plan: I am currently assembling a small group of volunteers who are helping coordinate efforts to charter a 50ft yacht out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This vessel will serve as transportation for supplies and headquarters for the group of volunteers. I have started coordinating with yacht clubs to come up with a cost package for the voyage; a rough estimate is $75,000 for a 4-day trip.
Volunteers Needed: If you can't donate funds but you can donate your time, we welcome you! I am currently seeking the help of those with medical experience.
Timeline: Depending on the weather, we would like to set sail on September, 8, 2019. This will allow us enough time to raise the funds and coordinate our efforts for supplies.
Estimated Cost (in US Dollars):
The money raised through this fund will be used for generators, fuel, tarps, roofing materials, food, water, personal hygiene products, diapers, formula, pet supplies, paper products, pillows, blankets, sleeping bags, air mattresses, duct tape, extension cords, box fans, batteries, flashlights, cleaning supplies, first aid kits, tools, garbage bags, etc.
Chartered Yacht ...............$75,000
Food and water .................$50,000
Clothing ...............................$50,000
Medical Supplies ..............$50,000
Burial.....................................$25,000
Responsibility of Funds: I, Lortir Pierre-Louis, will take full responsibility for any mismanagement of donated funds toward this cause. I am enlisting the help of a Certified Public Accountant to keep track of all spending in this effort.
Any help you can provide is welcome. If there are any questions, comments or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at [email redacted]
