Hurricane Emergency Aid for Nicaraguan Farmers
Donation protected
>> Double The Impact!! Pachamama Coffee Cooperative will match all donations made via GoFundMe up to $5,000.
Thousands of smallholder Nicaraguan coffee farms have suffered significant damage due to two hurricanes in the past three weeks. We are raising funds to provide cash and resources directly to family farmers and their communities.
All funds collected will go directly to the PRODECOOP Cooperative, which is owned by 2,300 small-scale farmers in northern Nicaragua. The cooperative is a pioneer in the organic coffee movement and a founding member of the Pachamama Coffee Cooperative in California.
We have been working for PRODECOOP to roast and market their coffee in the USA since 2006. Pachamama is 100% owned by coffee farmers in Peru, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico and Ethiopia. The president of Pachamama Coffee Cooperative is a woman, Merling Preza , and the general manager of PRODECOOP. The cooperative is 100% farmer-owned and democratically governed since 1992.
