Hurricane Eta and Iota- Fundraising for Honduras
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
My name is Adriana Laurent and I'm originally from Honduras from the city of La Ceiba but currently living in Vancouver. Currently, my whole family still lives in La Ceiba. I'm fundraising for my community to ensure the folks who are most impacted have access to shelter and food.
Hurricane Eta has just hit my community and has already had devastating impacts. Not only is my community dealing with COVID-19 but now we are also facing the impacts of the climate emergency through yet another category 4 hurricane. I know there is a lot going on in the world right now with so many overlapping crisis but my community needs urgent support.
The funds from this fundraiser will be going directly to folks on the ground. As the hurricane is still going through Central America, the most vulnerable people need immediate access to food and shelter. The money will be going to local churches who were already distributing food and providing shelter for folks because of COVID-19. My family is connected to local churches and hospitals who were providing relief support during COVID-19. The hospitals are supporting with COVID-19 relief and also giving folks PPE and medicine. The churches are providing shelter for folks who have lost their homes and are distributing foods for other families who have been impacted. They are trying to increase their capacity to do this work but are limited in their resources. I'm directly connected to folks who are doing this work and will keep folks updated on what the $ is being used for.
Several bridges have already fallen in the country which makes it even harder to distribute resources from one place to another. These funds will go to folks in my city (La Ceiba). Any additional funds will be allocated towards the recovery after the hurricane is over. There is already a lot of flooding and infrastructure damage to an already over burdened community so ongoing funds will be needed for recovery as well.
I know these are trying times for everyone, but please donate what you can and please share this with your networks. Any support helps. Every dollar will be used to help people.
You can also Pay Pal me or e-transfer me directly at [email redacted]
If you donate through this GoFundMe from December 4th to the 14th you'll automatically be entered in a raffle. 10$=1 raffle ticket. In your donation, please let me know what gift box you want to enter the raffle for. More details about the raffle in my latest update!
Thank you so much. Truly.
In solidarity,
Adriana
