Hurricane Fiona damages

Hi my name is Clare. I live in Pictou County Nova Scotia, Canada and was hard hit by Hurricane Fiona. There are a lot of trees down and it isn’t safe to go out back on my property. I am physically unable to clear the trees and debris myself and will need to get professionals to do this for me. I work as a nighttime home caregiver for a private company. I have worked all through the pandemic up to 60 hours a week but my wages are very low. Because I am a senior, the bank is reluctant to let me mortgage the house. There will be some government funding is available but I have to pay up front and submit receipts. I have no way of doing that. I have never asked for handouts before and am absolutely gutted that I have to do that. I have always worked very hard and helped others in any way that I was able over the decades.
I don’t want to lose my home. I came to Nova Scotia because I couldn’t afford to live on the west coast where I grew up and raised my children.
If I lose this, I don’t know what I will do.
Having a home where I can have my beloved dogs and cats means everything to me. They are my anchors to this planet. I have called this place Blue Moon because I never thought I would own a home unless it was “once in a blue moon” and plain as it is, I love it.
please help if you can. Even a little will go a long way.
