Hurricane Harvey: Galloway School
Tax deductible
The Galloway School (www.thegallowayschool.net) is a small elementary school located in Friendswood, Texas. It is in the heart of one of the communities hit worst by the flooding in the Houston area. The Galloway School was surrounded by water from Hurrican Harvey for up to a mile in some directions and accessible only by watercraft. The water was about 4 feet deep outside and inundated the school with almost two feet of water.
The school is home to a diverse community of over 150 children supported by amazing teachers and staff. Many of those connected to the school have been evacuated from their own homes but already people are volunteering to help get the school functioning again as soon as it becomes accessible. Teachers put in so much of their own time and money into their classrooms so as parents we want to do what we can to raise money for them and the school to replace what resources they have lost. Please help us get these children, many of whom have lost so much, back into a safe, familiar environment as soon as possible.
About Alex - the campaign manager:
My name is Alexander Quiros, and I am, first of all, the parent of two wonderful Galloway Students. I'm also part of the Galloway School Board and serve on the Finance Committee. This is my first GoFundMe. I never imagined I would do something like this, but when dedicated parents suggested this idea, the board asked me to head this project up. I dove in without any hesitation. The money raised by this GoFundME page will go towards replacing text books & library books, repairing the library, repairing classrooms, replacing damaged equipment, and towards helping teachers with supplies. 100% of the funds collected will go directly to the school.
