Hurricane Ian destroyed their home

Hi, my name is Tammy. I was born and raised in Streetsboro, Ohio, where I met Jeannie, in 1978. That was our 8th grade year of school and she has been my best friend since. Jeannie just moved to Fort Myers, Lee County not even two years ago, and then Hurricane Ian hit them, and hit hard.

I was just at her house 2 weeks ago spending time with her and having fun in Florida before this happened. It was a beautiful home and it was destroyed by the hurricane. I am heartbroken. They have nowhere to live at this moment, the house was completely flooded, they lost a car, a motorcycle, and 99% of their belongings.

They are two of the sweetest people I'veever known. Always welcoming everyone into their home, striking up conversations with stangers, and always smiling. Jeannie loves to cook and have get togethers with their friends. Brett is a retired military veteran and loves to play guitar. They are known as the most fun couple around.

I would like to help them very much to rebuild their home and replace their belongings. The insurance company is refusing to help, only providing less than a quarter of the cost of the house. Disregarding anything else, such as their belongings and valuables that they have lost. I know nothing can replace the memories they created in that home, the work they've done to it, or all the sentimental items they had but I want to help them as much as I can. They are family to me that is why I came here, hoping to help them get back on their feet again. When possible I will present them with a check, in person.
