Hurricane Ian Flooding and Total Losses
Donation protected
Hurricane Ian has caused irreparable and unexpected damage to Volusia County. One of the many people affected is my best friend, someone I consider to be family, Hannah Herrero, and her partner Will Wolfson. In the early hours of September 29, 2022, Hannah and Will had to swim out of the windows of their rental house with 5 animals. They left behind Hannah’s only car, as well as countless possessions, including clothes, furniture, electronics, food, and all Will’s business supplies.
Hannah and Will returned in a canoe later that day to salvage what they could and found their home filled with floating sewage and dead wildlife. While there, they, along with their roommate Rossi Schell, ended up rescuing their neighbors, a disabled 90-year-old couple who had spent hours in waist high flood water in 60 degree weather and bringing them to safety. Hannah and Will really appreciate the community’s support during these trying times. Please consider donating if you can to help replace some of the lost items. Donations can be sent directly to Ava Lapham on Venmo at Ava-Lapham
Regardless, they are immensely grateful for all the love and moral support
