Hurricane Ian Home Devastation

Donation protected
Last year’s Hurricane Ian that wreaked unprecedented destruction in the Ft. Myers, Florida, area, also destroyed Bill “Willie” Arnold’s mobile home. Charlotte County subsequently condemned the mobile home, and it has since been demolished. Willie also sustained significant personal property losses. He is temporarily living in a trailer provided by FEMA, which will need to be returned to FEMA, while he looks to secure alternate living arrangements. FEMA will only provide financial support that is equivalent to about 1/3 of the cost of a replacement mobile home; Willie needs to find a way to make up that substantial difference. This fundraising effort is intended to provide the capital needed for Willie to purchase a replacement mobile home that will be his permanent residence.

Most people look forward to retirement when they grow older, but Willie is still working six days a week, at the age of 80, at a job that requires demanding physical labor. This is necessary to meet normal living expenses, and to pay off the remaining mortgage on his demolished mobile home. Willie is a 1968 graduate of the University of Maryland where he was initiated into the Sigma Chi Fraternity. (He was and remains a great fraternity brother and, perhaps, an even better social chairman!) Your donations will assist Willie in purchasing a replacement mobile home that will help reduce the financial pressures he currently faces, and enable him to live a less demanding lifestyle.

This fundraising effort is sponsored by the University of Maryland 60s Sigs.
