Recovery for the Rhodes Family
Donation protected
On September 28, Hurricane Ian landed in Florida, causing heavy flooding and forcing thousands to evacuate their homes. My name is Nikki Reitz, and I, along with a circle of friends, want to help the Rhodes Family. Although I currently live in Missouri, I am a south Florida native and know how difficult the next few weeks will be. We want to do what we can to assist in getting the family back on their feet after this devastating loss.
Tara and Dan, their son Carter Rhodes and dog Ella live in Fort Myers, Florida ( Lee County), where Hurricane Ian first touched the mainland. Their home has been destroyed by the storm surge and high winds and is now uninhabitable. Their loss is made even more challenging because Carter has Ullrich congenital muscular dystrophy and requires an accessible home for his wheelchair. They must find accessible and pet-friendly temporary housing and replace specialized medical equipment. They’re facing a long, expensive journey to recover and rebuild, and they can use all the financial support we can muster. Please join us in contributing to this fundraiser to keep them going during this difficult time.
All funds will be deposited directly to the family to help rebuild.
Below are the needs, both immediate and long-term. Since Carter has severe medical conditions, they will need to get a safe place to live as soon as possible.
Immediate needs-
Accessible, Pet-friendly housing
Replacement for specialized medical equipment
Daily living expenses
Long-term needs-
New EVERYTHING
Rebuild their house in a Carter-friendly fashion
