Hurricane Ian relief efforts for Island Java Cafe
Donation protected
Hi my name is Stephanie and this fundraiser is for my boyfriend’s family the Hibbs (Mike, Sandra, and children), owners of the Island Java Cafe, a local coffee shop that was located in The Sanibel Outlets.
Their family owned a coffee shop in The Sanibel Outlets, located between Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel Island. The effects of Hurricane Ian unfortunately left their little cafe destroyed and beyond repair due to the storm surge and strong winds. Thankfully their family was able to stay safe during this difficult time.
It was always Sandra’s dream to own a coffee shop, and when she made that dream a reality she was forced to endure years of hardship due to red tide and Covid. She dedicated all of her time to provide for the community through her coffee shop and made sure to provide a warm, welcoming environment for everyone who walked through the door. Not only was this coffee shop a big part of her life, but it was also a second home to her children who all helped their mom fulfill her dream, as well as her husband who would spend his days off as a teacher to help run the cafe. Sandra lost her coffee shop as well as another store she planned on opening next month that was going to give as much to the community as the cafe did. Their lives have been changed forever and I want to be able to give them back something that is familiar to them.
All donations will go towards recovery costs of the Island Java Cafe as well as helping out employees who lost their jobs, cars, and homes. The city of Fort Myers needs community now more than ever, and that is exactly what this coffee shop exemplified. Any size donation helps!
