Hurricane Ian Relief- Our Family Lost It All

Hi everyone,

Cassandra and Keanu here writing from Miami, FL where (unlike our family) we have internet and are trying to help. Our family in Naples, FL has just lost everything from the storm surge, hurricane winds, and massive flooding. Our deeply impacted family includes Julia (Keanu's Sister) and Johnny (brother in law), their sons Xavier and Damian (our nephews), Julia's and Keanu's mother, Elena, and Johnny's mother, Karen.

After an 8+ ft storm surge pounded the west Florida cost and started flooding Naples, my brother-in-law Johnny had to physically swim through the storm-flooded streets to rescue his mother Karen, who was up to her chin in water from the storm surge by the time Johnny got to her. Unfortunately, Karen has no legs, could not get out before the storm, and barely got to safety through Johnny's help. Though she suffered from hypothermia from the cold water, she, and the rest of the family, are luckily physically OK and recovering now.

While we're so grateful our family is physically alright, they've lost absolutely everything in this storm and, unfortunately, did not have any renter's insurance. Their cars, both their homes (Julia, Johnny, Elena, Xavier and Damian in one home and Karen in the other), and absolutely everything inside are completely destroyed. They will eventually need to start from scratch and find and furnish a new home.

Until FEMA comes through (hopefully?), we are trying to help them cover the basic costs of getting a safe place to stay, food, and basic necessities until they can make more permanent arrangements.

Our family makes a very modest salary, and any little bit you can provide would be deeply appreciated to help them get through this traumatic time. 100% of the funds raised will be directly deposited into our nephew Xavier's account to get the family a safe place to sleep, food, and basic supplies to get them through the next few weeks.
