Hurricane Ian Relief for Sanibel Locals

If you’ve ever been to Sanibel Island, then you’ve probably come across Rachel Stokes and David Queisser and their families within the community. As longtime local residents of an island now nearly destroyed and uninhabitable, they are left to start over. David started his own delivery business called Sanibel Delivery, helping both tourists and long-time residents with whatever their needs may be on and off island. He also serves as a helping hand for the elderly and those who cannot get around alone anymore on the island. Rachel is a schoolteacher on the island itself as well as a local tutor for many children and spends her free time volunteering and helping others. Now it is our turn to help them. David and Rachel had their whole life turned upside down by Hurricane Ian. Their home in Sanibel was completely flooded with water (along with their cars) and like many others in SW FL, they are left with next to nothing and no community to return to. It could be months before they are able to return their home in Sanibel due to the causeway being decimated. It could be years until the island is back to any sort of normal state, which means locals like them will be left homeless and jobless. Any financial relief will help them with their immediate needs in the coming weeks as they are left to start over. Even during the storm, when they were losing eveything, they helped rescue my dad’s frenchie and took him in so he wouldn’t have to be left in a shelter. They are the kindest souls with the best hearts, whose spirits always welcomed anyone to the paradise that is temporarily gone. They are the spirits who will help rebuild the soul of Sanibel Island for years to come.
