Hurricane Ian SOS!!! Please help my sister...

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Marci L Ficht and I'm trying to help my sister, Michelle, and her family who got hit with Hurricane Ian flooding in Edgewater, FL.

I've had several friends ask if they could donate to help my twin sister (Elle / 'chelle) and one suggested that I create a Go Fund Me for her. If you want to help, she could certainly use it. It's actually a desperate situation at this point. FEMA can't help them for awhile (who knows if FEMA can even do anything at all because the house has flood insurance) and they can't access the flood insurance on the house at the moment. Why? Because the house was my recently deceased mother's and it's still tied up in probate. With everything else going on, she's dealing with the attorney and settling mom's affairs. So they are totally on their own for now until the red tape is processed.

They lost all furniture, all appliances from the refrigerator to the washer and dryer (which is going to make cleanup even more difficult), many irreplaceable family keepsakes, and a car. The house has to be torn down from mid-thigh (the flood waters were around 2' but wicked up all drywall and wood) to the flooring under the carpet and maybe the tile? I have no idea what has to be done when a house floods. I don't even want to think about electrical...and the ac unit..it was almost new!

Dan (husband) will be doing as much as he can on his own, without ac and any normal amenities like a refrigerator. Right now they aren't even supposed to flush toilets and sewage has backed up into toilets, bathtub, and sinks. The poor guy is exhausted from moving an entire house in three days by himself, followed by driving straight thru on his own from Memphis, TN to Edgewater, FL and then unloading it all again just this past Saturday the 24th...and then they lost everything on Thursday the 29th. He can't even look for a job until the house is at least aired out and all the bad stuff removed. Nobody in the family has jobs yet because they just moved here! Such an unbelievable mess.

So yeah, with no chance of insurance stepping up for a bit and FEMA trying to help but likely unable to, they have fallen through the cracks (despite doing everything right!!!) and they could definitely use help. I don't like to ask for help and I actually hate doing a Go Fund Me...it goes against everything I believe in. I've always felt that it seems to put too much pressure on family and friends to help when it's not something anyone has to feel like they HAVE to do. And then there's the worry that nobody will help. In fact, my sister is probably going to kill me for doing this. It's just...if you're wanting to help hurricane victims, I have the perfect one right here that will be really embarrassed but oh-so-thankful for help. I'm helping all I can but I'm about to run out of all I have to give. This is my way of doing everything in my power to help her. I've actually decided to look into selling plasma to get extra cash to help them. Every little bit helps, so whatever it takes. (Even making a Go Fund Me, which I can't believe I'm doing.)

If you can't help, don't feel bad at all...times are tough all over. What a horrible time for a hurricane. But I really would appreciate any prayers you could make for her. AND PLEASE SHARE THIS GO FUND ME!!!! You never know who will donate...I often donate to total stranger's Go Fund Me drives. Small amounts add up...$10 here, $25 there. Especially when ANYTHING helps! She has had so many knock out blows lately that I'm afraid she is going to give up. And she's wondering where God is... something I never, ever thought I'd hear from her.

One last important thing: I'm not a scammer. You can see pretty much my entire life on Facebook starting I think in 2011? I joined to stay in touch with military mates and faraway friends I made. I'm an open book. I think I'm a good person and I would never, ever cheat anyone. I don't do drugs, rarely drink, I don't gamble, never been arrested, I've had two speeding tickets my entire life (total extent of my criminal nature), and I believe in God and that He will help my sister. Hopefully some of you will, too? Any funds raised will go towards helping them clean up the mess, stay in a hotel, and survive until the insurance is approved, which could take months depending on probate of the estate.
