Hurricane Ida: Direct Relief
Thibodaux, La and surrounding areas took a direct hit. This fund is being setup to help families most immediately and directly effected with items needed which are not considered or often overlooked by those looking to help with donations.
Not only am I a resident of Thibodaux, I am a Company President/member of Thibodaux Vol. Fire Department. I am also a coordinator of Matthew 25 ministries within the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux. Through my leadership in these organizations, I will be coming into direct contact with individuals and families in dire need. The next few weeks and months we will begin the long road to recovery and rebuilding.
While many local, state, and national agencies are coming to help the people most effected, it is very common for people to need the most simplistic of items immediately that might not be available (ie cleaning supplies, diapers, formula, oil or filters for generators, tarps for roof, etc.) These funds will go directly to helping shuttle these items to the areas and people we come in contact with.
Any excess funds, if any, will be donated to Catholic Charities to provide funding to continue this long process even after the news cameras and headlines have left the area.
