Hurricane John Acapulco Recovery

Donation protected
On September 22nd, Hurricane John rapidly intensified from a tropical storm to a Category 3 hurricane, hitting Acapulco dead on with little warning much like Hurricane Otis hit Acapulco 11 months earlier, intensifying from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane with no notice. The people of Acapulco still have not fully recovered from Hurricane Otis when they were hit by Hurricane John on September 22nd. The storm then fizzled out but somehow reformed back in the ocean a few days later and hit Acapulco again.

Between September 22nd and September 27th, Acapulco and surrounding areas were deluged with a massive amount of rain that turned many of the streets in Acapulco into raging rivers, collapsing hundreds of homes and destroying much of Acapulco yet again, killing at least 22 people and leaving hundreds if not thousands homeless.

The scope of the disaster is still fairly unknown as many areas in and around Acapulco are still unpassable. It is still somewhat unclear exactly what help is needed but food is definitely needed in many areas, clothing and labor to dig communities out. We are prepared to go into numerous areas in and around Acapulco to help and we would be very grateful for any donations you can make to help with our efforts.

I'm Jeff Berwick, from The Dollar Vigilante, and I've been living in Acapulco the past 16 years. My team from Anarchapulco has been working in Acapulco for decades and raised funds and brought people to help for several prior hurricanes in Acapulco, have supported the Marsh Children’s Home and their 200 orphans and helped out numerous communities who also received no help from the government or from the outside. The Anarchapulco team raised over $450,000 for recovery efforts for Hurricane Otis last year and spent all the funds helping the people of Acapulco and they are prepared to send out their teams yet again to help.

Funds will be received and distributed by VIGILANTE ENTERPRISES LLC ("The Dollar Vigilante"), a Florida LLC, to our agents on the ground. Just as we did for Hurricane Otis we will be posting receipts, photos and videos of all of our work as it happens. This is a rapidly moving situation and we will update regularly here on our progress and needs.
