Donation protected

Months after Hurricane Laura forced a Lake Charles family out of Louisiana, one mother says a new blessing is changing their spirits.

Kesha Matthews gave birth today, miles away from home at St. David's North Medical Center in Austin Texas. It wasn't just any birth for the hospital, Matthews says her baby boy is lucky number one in 2021.

Jordan Arvie Jr., arrived at 12:30 am on Friday, January 1, in spite of all the obstacles 2020 had to throw at his parents.

Matthews tells KATC that Hurricane Laura forced the family to seek shelter in Texas with relatives. They lost everything and have not been back to Louisiana. The pandemic has also been a challenge for the new mom, keeping herself healthy and away from COVID-19 risks.

"With all the things we have been through, he is our blessing," Matthews said of Jordan.

The family says they are still living in Austin with family and continue working to get back to their home now with little Jordan Jr. in tow no matter what your situation is never let your current situation be your last cause you never know what God have plan for you  Jordan Arvie Jr was born 12:30 am weighing 7lbs 20 inches
