Hurricane Mutual Aid by Youth Climate Activists
Donation protected
61 Florida counties are under a state of emergency due to Hurricane Helene. Thousands have been forced to evacuate already. Helene made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane on Thursday night.
Sunrise Movement organizers from across Florida are delivering supplies and support to Tampa during Hurricane Helene, while holding politicians accountable for the climate crisis. While we initially planned to be in Tallahassee which was in the middle of Helene's predicted path, we ended up being needed in Tampa (hit unexpectedly hard by the hurricane) more.
Donate to help fund our mutual aid work this weekend!
We've already made one supply run for menstrual products, baby wipes, first aid kits, and more. On Thursday and Friday, we went out to buy food, phone chargers, clean water, and more essentials. On Saturday, we began delivering supplies. The more we fundraise here, the longer we can distribute food and supplies on the ground.
Funding details: Yara and Shiva (organizers on Sunrise Movement staff) are on the ground in Florida and will use these funds to reimburse volunteers who purchase supplies at Walmart and BJ's (Sunrise Orlando, Sunrise Miami, and a few other individuals from FL and GA).
