Hurricane Relief - Dom Rep Country Village
Donation protected
Wilfredo's country village (batey) was hit very hard by Hurricane Fiona. We know people have asked how they could help, so we put this together. Here's a little information about the CV.
- Situated in a massive sugar cane field, the village houses nearly 1,500 people
- Within the village, there is a school and a small market for necessities
- Majority of the families living in the CV work in the sugar cane fields and are very hard workers
The Hurricane devastated the country village. Many roofs are gone from the homes, the market and the school have been damaged. Their homes are drenched in water, and most of their basic items are ruined. There will be a need for many repairs that we are hopeful will come in the long-term plan, but right now, the people have immediate needs, including food, clothes, notebooks and basic necessities.
Wilfredo's family is already part of the market and can distribute these items quickly to those in need with your help. His family has also started to make group meals for the people in the village and will continue with your help.
I know you are wondering how we can help with immediate needs.
- $50 can feed 25 people via group meals the family can make now
- Donate money to go towards food, clothes, school supplies or basic needs immediately
- Donate clothes or other items to us directly, and we will deliver them personally to the families in need
We greatly appreciate all of your help and know our family in the DR is so grateful for the outreach. We will update you along the way on how your donations have reached these families in need and how the CV comes along on getting rebuilt. We know they will come back with your help and their own determination.
