Hurricane Relief for Las Diosas
Donation protected
We are just beginning to understand the devastating impact hurricane Eta and Iota are having on Cooperative Coffees friends and producer partners in Central America. Lives have been lost and people have been displaced. Flooding and landslides have destroyed infrastructure and damaged coffee and other crops on the farm. It will take months to rebuild, all under the context of a COVID pandemic.
Las Diosas cooperative works in the affected areas of Estelí, Jinotega, Madriz and Dipilto. Many members have had to relocate, taking shelter in schools, the cooperative meeting house or members’ homes. Rivers have risen and some members are flooded. There are reports of heavy landslides in Dipilto, Guasuyuca and in the Yali region, having a serious impact on mountain roadways. Food production has been greatly affected.
