Hurricane Relief Fund for CrossFit AVL in Asheville, NC
Donation protected
It’s with a heavy heart to share that CrossFit AVL got destroyed during Hurricane Helene.
CrossFit AVL was not just a workout facility. It was a place where people of all ages came together for exercise, wellness, and connecting in community. CrossFit AVL specialized in empowering those with chronic injuries and illnesses to improve their health so that they could live a better quality of life and be a positive impact on others as well.
The owner, Dr. Corey Duvall, purchased the building 4 years ago with a long-term vision of serving his clients to better health and longevity. Since purchasing the gym, Corey has invested countless hours and $300,000+ dollars to improve the physical space for his clients.
On Friday, September 27th, the building completely flooded in less than 6 hours. Prior to this flood, the highest recorded flood in the area was 4 ft.; however, during this storm, the water rose above 15 ft.
Leading up to the storm, we prepared by putting the most expensive equipment ($20,000+) up on top of rafters in case of a flood. Some of the equipment was saved; however, most of it has been destroyed.
At this point in time, it seems as though the building is beyond salvageable. We are unsure if the city will even allow us to rebuild in the same location because of the new building restrictions in the area.
The plan moving forward is to salvage as much of the equipment that is left and to find another location to rebuild the community ASAP.
If you feel called to contribute to supporting CrossFit AVL in any way, please consider donating. Every single dollar counts!
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and support
