Husband, Father, Hero: Jonathan Smith’s Memorial

Dear family and friends,

It is with heavy hearts that we bring you this news. Yesterday, Friday, August 7, our beloved Jonathan was in an accident while taking down a tree at one of our local community churches.

Our dear family friend, and John’s right-hand man, was there on the scene when it happened.

He confirmed there was a weak spot in the tree that likely contributed to the fall, and that Johnathon passed instantly. We thank God for calling him home painlessly, and know that he is with him.

We are devastated by this loss, especially because Jonathon’s reach extended so far beyond our immediate family. As the news spread, we began receiving calls and messages from the many people whose lives he’s touched over the years.

An air force veteran, devoted husband, and adoring father, Jonathan’s greatest passion in life was helping others. He was the man who could fix anything, who you could call anytime, and who would drop everything to come to your rescue.

He was our superman, but the world truly lost a hero yesterday.

Right now we need your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this difficult time. Johnathon was the sole provider for his household and leaves behind his wife and children. We know that COVID-19 will present us with a unique set of challenges as we move forward with arrangements, but we are determined to celebrate the enormous and beautiful life that John lived.
