Hutchinson Hundred Miles for Hinderton!
In October, I will be walking 100 miles to raise money for Hinderton school. Hinderton is a primary school for autistic children, and my eldest started there last year.
Before starting at Hinderton, Dresden was very distressed by music and singing which posed all sorts of barriers to us accessing the world around us. We couldn't access the zoo because they play music at the entrance. We had to leave birthday parties if anyone sang happy birthday. I couldn't sing to his younger sister when she was born. Just the ice cream van going past the house playing music would trigger a meltdown.
However, Hinderton introduced music to Dres in such a beautiful, child-led way. He was able to explore different musical instruments, encounter live music, and explore sound through play with his peers. He is now able to access environments where music is playing including our local shop! He even allows us to pop Spotify on at home. This has been absolutely huge for our family.
Any money raised through sponsorship will be donated to Hinderton to continue funding their amazing music provision. Thank you for reading and for your support.
