Hutchison Union Labor Temple
Donation protected
The Hutchinson Union Labor Temple is located at 427 N Main in Hutchinson, KS and is a designated National, State, and Local historic landmark. This building was the original Hutchinson, Kansas Public Library and was built in 1903 with a grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation. The purpose of our organization is to provide a central meeting place for organized labor in Hutchinson/Reno County Kansas.
We have been at this location for nearly 70 years. Through the years we have had unions and tenants come and go. Currently we have 5 labor unions using the building and 1 union having an office in the building.
Unfortunately, we are at a point where we will soon be unable to financially keep the building open. Here in lies the purpose of this request. We have decided to use this format to appeal to our union brothers and sisters, friends of labor and admirers of historic buildings for their financial help.
Our primary expenses are property taxes, property insurance, and utilities. We pay no wages or salaries to anyone. Our buildings cleaning and administration is performed by volunteers. Please consider a financial donation and I would be happy to answer any questions about this matter.
