Habitat for Humanity Club at UVA
Donation protected
The Habitat for Humanity Club at the University of Virginia (HUVA) is a student-led organization affiliated with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville (HFHGC), bringing people together around education, advocacy, service, and fundraising for affordable housing.
This year, we were awarded a generous matching grant of $5,000 from State Farm. Last semester, we raised $2,200, and our goal is to raise the last $2,800 before mid-April so we are able to donate a full $10,000 to HFHGC this year.
Every donation counts and goes towards supporting the dreams of Charlottesville families seeking to become first-time homeowners amidst an affordable housing crisis and a global pandemic.
In August 2020, 36 new families joined the HFHGC program, and they are working on their homebuyer education and financial fitness classes so they will be able to buy a HFHGC home. These homes are sold at 0% interest through a 30-year mortgage. Without donations from the community, this simply would not be possible.
Having a stable place to live means kids have the opportunity to make friends and focus on learning and growing, rather than constantly moving. It means parents have the pride of knowing they've provided for their families, and they realize they have the tools they need to go after other dreams. It's the start of a new future.
Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated, and will help us support the community we call home! Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
