Help me save my best friend.

I'm here because a friend told me I should do this. I don't know what to say. I learned yesterday that my best friend, a boy cat named Wedge (Wedgie-pants, Wedgers, Wedgifus, Booger), has a large tumor in his belly. 

He's lost weight and been lethargic which is why I took him in. Now I'm faced with losing my best friend. 

Wedge has been with me through most of college, a couple relationships, two cars and half a dozen apartments. He's 11 years old and aside from the tumor has always been a happy healthy boy.

He follows me around like a dog and talks to me all day. He cuddles with me before I go to sleep every night. Every morning he wakes me up and follows me into the shower and then we hurry to the kitchen for food time. I'm not ready to lose my friend. He's not ready. I know he's got time left.

The veterinarian (who is one of the best in the area) said that with x-rays and biopsies and surgery the costs will run around $2,000. I don't have that. I don't have anything close to that. I'm already planning on working nonstop until I can get the money together, but the vet told me he probably doesn't have long. 

He's barely eating and he's just hiding under the couch. Judging by his behavior, the vet said he's got a few weeks at best.  He's eaten like a tablespoon of food in the last 24 hours. I'm beside myself.

Please help me get surgery for my best friend. Please help me give him a chance at living a long life. Even a dollar would help. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
