Rory's Addiction Recovery Fund

Donation protected
I’m Rory and I’m an alcoholic.  I have been in an addiction recovery center since late May and I’m three months sober.  The program I’m in is helping me learn how to live again, only sober this time.  Life is exciting; life is better.  Addiction left me broken, unable to take responsibility for my own life.  Now I have a job, attend AA meetings daily, meet with my counselor three times a week, and work through the issues in my life that started me on the path of addiction in the first place.  I am especially grateful to be able to mentor guys who are newer to the program than I am.  My family has been very supportive.  Some of them are even working on their own recovery.

A lot of people think that after going to a 30-day program their problems with addiction have been solved. At that preliminary phase of treatment I had just started to realize my issues. Even 90 days of treatment would leave the vast majority of chemical dependents and alcoholics too spiritually weak to last for long-term sobriety.  Cravings come and go throughout our lives, often at the worst times.  If you haven't developed the insight to recognize this or the mechanisms to cope, you're likely just buying time until your next relapse. Worst case scenarios WILL HAPPEN; all you can do is prepare and anticipate. This is why I believe the full 9-month treatment at this recovery center is necessary for me – a true addict who desires the discipline for long-term sobriety. Having this kind of time will give me the opportunity to continue the successful program I have started, thoroughly go through the 12 steps of AA, understand addictive thinking, recognize character defects, learn how to deal with stress from life / people, and develop a network of sober friends to support me through the tests to come.  I will need every tool I can get, along with the training to properly use these tools.

It is my deepest desire to finish this program to give me the best chance at life without drugs or alcohol.  That’s why I’m asking for your help.  I need $24,000 to stay in this program another 6 months.   I’ve spent all my own money and my family contributes everything they can.  If you can help me, please click on this link to donate.  Any amount is appreciated.  Thank you for helping.
