Lisa Brandt : Stronger than Cancer
Donation protected
Lisa Brandt (Lewis) was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer in January of 2023. She has and will continue to accrue major medical bills that will be difficult if not impossible for her to cover. Unfortunately with surgery (double mastectomy and removal of lymph nodes), chemotherapy and radiation, Lisa will be losing quite a few hours of work each week. Tough with one income and a son in college.
I was originally trying to raise $25k to handle the majority of her medical bills the next 6 years (year one surgery, chemo and radiation, then 5 years of oral medication).
Lisa has received many generous donations from a lot of great people. However at just over $4k she has fallen way short of the amount needed to raise. Let’s focus on year one as that is the most expensive year. So I’ve lowered the goal to $11k which should cover most of her out of pocket expenses.
As the late, great Jerry Lewis would say for his kids fundraising telethons “it’s great but it’s never enough, give until it hurts”. Not exactly the approach Lisa wants to take. A small but very generous donation of $10 on up is the ask from anyone reading about Lisa’s fundraiser is more than appreciated and it probably won’t have to hurt to give it.
God forbid if you or someone in your family has been through this you know the first year can be a punch in the stomach. I feel if we get Lisa through the first year, still above water, she can make it!!
My huge ask is this. If you would like to donate to help alleviate some of the pressure off of Lisa during the next year of surgery, treatment (roughly 6 months of chemo and 3 or 4 months of radiation) you will never be forgotten for the kindness. It’s true nobody needs to feel like they have to donate. How would you feel if you did? Do what feels right and that’s usually the best decision.
Play it out in your own mind if that helps you come to a decision. Everyone has done it. What if the roles were reversed? God forbid you get cancer and your life changes as you know it. One of your worst nightmares. Now does a donation of $10, $25 or $50+ feel important? You bet your life it is! It’s crucial.
Please give what you are able to. Even if that is $5 it can make all the difference to Lisa. Please don’t ignore this request. It’s so important to Lisa and others in her life. Thank you all so much!
