Fight for our children

DUE TO THE THREAT OF BEING SUED, CHANGES HAVE BEEN FORCED TO BE MADE TO THIS STORY. We have also been touted by certain parties for setting it up because "it didn't go anywhere the first time." There was a fund set up about 4 years ago and it didn't get many donations. Thankfully, that is not the case this time. We also have many people donating items for our yardsales to help raise funds. Now, to the rest of the story.

Hello, My name is Carol Horton. I have set this up to help my son, Josh, and his wife Laura, with the mounting legal fees associated with their 4-1/2 year battle to gain full legal custody of his three children and my grandchildren - Caden, Braxton and Summer. The last 4-1/2 years have been extremely difficult, not just financially, but emotionally as well. Summer has been withheld from visitation with us for the first 3-1/2 years since her birth, except for a few sporadic visits over this past year. With these few visits, she has voiced her desire to be able to spend "all her days" with us. She is scolded once she returns to her mother's home if she calls Josh her "dad". DNA testing has made it clear the person she is forced to call her "dad" is not her dad. Her 4th birthday was the first birthday we have been able to share with her. Once new attorneys were obtained and this GFM was set up, she suddenly started refusing to come for her regularly scheduled visits. We can only guess why considering how eager she has been before this was taken back to court. Hopefully, she will get the opportunity to hear the truth, and nothing but the truth, before long.

Caden & Braxton have been mistreated (THE REST OF THIS SENTENCE HAD TO BE DELETED.) both verbally and physically since Josh and their mother separated. (There is a new, open investigation in the process.) They both pray they don't ever have to go back and cry when they have to. When they voice this to their mother she replies "Well the courts say you have to". I never understood why a person will force their child to go with them because they think the court is making them do it! If you don't want them with you, you don't have to make them go. Just saying!

With the issues in the beginning Josh & Laura researched & found a new firm to help them. With the help of family and friends, they paid the initial deposit and the new attorneys began working on the case. With the processes required to get everything going, the deposited funds quickly dwindled, and additional funds were required and will continue to mount until this is resolved. Josh and Laura work extremely hard to care for, provide for, support and love these children. Along with everyday living expenses, legal fees continue to mount and their finances have been strained.
