Jackie Prestley-Hwy 280 Tragedy

Tragedy hit in the early morning hours of October 16, 2018 when Jacqlyn "Jackie" Prestley Harwell was fatally struck by a car as she was crossing Highway 280 in Birmingham, Alabama. From what we understand, she was crossing on foot to get something to eat from a nearby restaurant. Only God knows the rest of this story and only He can answer why this happened to her.
She was a single mother who leaves behind three beautiful sons, Ben (14), Clay (11) and Caleb (6), as well as, her grieving mother (Karen), brother (Mark), and many other family members whom love her dearly. This fundraiser is to help her family cover funeral expenses and also to help the 3 boys with whatever their needs may be as they go through this difficult time. The money will go directly to her precious mother, Karen Rodriguez Dill and she will use it as needed to plan the funeral and help the boys, having only their interests and welfare at heart.
If you knew Jackie, you knew how sweet she was. She always had a kind word to say about everyone. She loved her boys fiercely and she loved her other family members just as much. She often spoke of her close relationship with her mom on social media. She called her " my best friend, my mentor, my role model, my helper with raising my boys, and my hero!" She claimed "that's a lot to put on one person", but it was the truth and Karen lives up to all of those things. Right now, she's loving her grandsons and holding them close while grieving the sudden loss of her best friend/daughter...their sweet mama. If you can't donate, please cover our family in prayer. A little about myself and how I'm related...my name is Julie (Rodriguez) Heath. Jacqlyn was my first cousin. Her mom, Karen, and my late father, Johnny Rodriguez, are siblings. Our family has been through so much over the past few years. First, our dear Uncle Larry (karen's brother) passed unexpectedly and then in 2017, my dad Johnny (Karen's other brother) passed away. Jacqlyn was so close to both of these uncles and she, Karen and Mark felt as if they barely had anyone left after they were gone; Orphans is what Karen often said they felt like. Karen and Jacqlyn have done so much for my family and me over the years. I just wanted to do something to help them. So, I started this page! Thank you for your prayers and donations!! It means so much and if you know Karen and our family, you know it will be paid forward in one way or another. ❤
