Hello All,
As you may or may not know, our daughter Cynthia was diagnosed in March 2016 with Lyme Disease after being misdiagnosed for over 2 years.
There's a facilty in Germany that could treat her in a month or two for $20 000.00 but that of course would take her away from her job, not to mention the expense to travel and for accommodations. Since Dr's in Canada cannot diagnose or treat Lyme Disease, Cynthia has been going to a Lyme Specialist in Calgary who has been a Godsend for her.
All of her treatments and medications are an out of pocket expense and are extremely expensive. On average she pays $1000 - $1500 per month, which will end up costing approximately the same as the trip to Germany by the time she's done. She was put on a strict diet and she is unbelievably regimented with it. Not only is there a diet plan to follow but she also had to change all of her household items to organic.
Thankfully the treatments are working and she sees the Lyme Specialist monthly to modify her medications and to ensure she's still on an upward swing. This is not a disease that will ever go away but once under control, can be managed. Once under control, on a yearly basis she'll have to do a Maintenance Treatment to prevent flair ups and from going back to square one.
Cynthia is not the type of woman to ask for a hand out but she really needs our help. She has exhausted all of her savings and the stress is mounting. Being a single income she can't afford to miss work when she's really sick from her meds, so in to work she goes, Thankfully her employers have been great.
If you could find it in your heart to donate we would be forever grateful. It will give Cynthia peace of mind and lower her stress level, which is not good for her recovery.
