The Flint Kearsley High School Robotics team, FRC Team 5150, The Hybrid Hornets, have had an amazing season. They spent the first 6 weeks of 2016 building a robot to compete in the 2016 FIRST Robotics Challenge, FIRST Stronghold, and began competing in early March. The team did really well at the district level competitions quickly earning enough points to qualify for the Michigan State Championships this past weekend at the Delta Plex in Grand Rapids. They spent the entire weekend competing amazingly and their success continued all the way to the finals of the event and ended up a finalist. The team ended their season 5th in the state out of 411 teams. It has changed the lives of these kids forever.
Their success is continuing!! By doing so well in Michigan, they have qualified for the FIRST Championships in St. Louis. Unfortunately, they do not have the funds for registration, travel, food and lodging for the event and need all the support they can get from anyone out there to send these kids to the most inspiring educational experience of their lives. The FIRST Robotics Championship experience will change the lives of these kids. They will be able to meet with college admissions counselors from all over the country as well as spend time with industry professionals.
