Hydrocephalus baby in Ghana.
Donation protected
I visited Effia Nkwanta hospital today, where I have previously worked. This little baby has a condition called hydrocephalus which is a a build-up of fluid in the cavities deep within the brain.
The extra fluid puts pressure on the brain and can cause brain damage. Baby Elizabeth’s mother has unfortunately abandoned her at the hospital due to lack of funding. My heart hurts for this little one, as I know something can be done to change her life.
A shunt may be able to be inserted, which will allow the fluid to drain. With hope of living a Normal functional life with this medical care.
