Hygiene Kits for Asylum Seekers in Tapachula

Solidarity Engineering hygiene kits storymap
Hygiene kits will be distributed in Reynosa, Matamoros, and Tapachula - three Mexican cities with large asylum seeker populations who are in need of the very basics. Thousands of asylum seekers flee their homes and travel for weeks or months to find solace and safety with their sponsors in the United States. The journey they take is long and arduous, and most of the asylum seekers prioritize food, medicine, and safety over hygiene needs. Not only can this cause dangerous cases of diarrhea and skin infections, but it is incredibly dehumanizing.
Our hygiene kits will include soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo, a comb, water filter, flash light, condoms, menstrual pads, and more! Each hygiene kit costs about $34 to assemble and distribute, but the value to the refugee is monumental. We've already started our assembly and distribution, but the need to overwhelming.
To receive the personalized card, photo, and donation receipt - please donate $34 per hygiene kit (or $100 for three!), and include your email address in the comment section.
