Hygiene Supplies for Przemysl
Donation protected
Hi, all!
Tomorrow, I’m heading out to the Poland-Ukraine border to work alongside World Central Kitchen assisting with the refugee crisis. I’ll be there for a few weeks and will then continue to fly back and forth while I’m living in Bosnia on my Fulbright grant. If you don’t know, I founded a non-profit called The BUREK Initiative that collects and publishes testimony from survivors of the 1990s Balkan conflicts. I’ve centered the past five years of my academic career/professional work on studying conflict and working in conflict areas (Moria, Bosnia, etc). As someone who works with war/genocide survivors day-in and day-out, it is difficult to hear news of what’s happening in Ukraine and not follow the impetus to do something and help any way I can.
Below is a picture of $193 worth of hygiene supplies, including pads/tampons, deodorant, toothbrushes/toothpaste, socks, razors, etc. While working in the Moria camp on Lesvos, people often expressed a want/need for hygiene supplies and to feel clean. I’ll be making a few more supply trips before my flight tomorrow.
I’ll use all donations to purchase more supplies. If there are more donations after my flight or that I otherwise can’t spend on supplies, I’ll donate it directly to World Central Kitchen.
-Toothbrush - $.39/ea
-Pads/tampons - $.07/ea
-Razors - $.10/ea
-Pair of socks - .$47/ea
-Deodorant - $1/ea
Please comment/DM with any questions! I’ll provide receipts for transparency. Be sure to follow @theburekinitiative on Instagram and my blog on evaisakovic.com for updates/stories.
