09/05/2020 Update: We’re almost there! I can’t thank you enough for helping our friend Wally. During these unprecedented times, it’s amazing to see us helping Wally during his time of need. It restores my faith in our ability to be good to each other. Thank you again. - John Guerra
Wally needs our help. He has had a host of continual medical problems over the past six months. In addition to a severe allergic reaction he had in April due to medicine to treat his autoimmune illness, he had another one in June that left him with several more issues, including symptoms of Cushing syndrome.
A few weeks ago, Wally wound up in the emergency room with side pain, constant nausea, and the inability to eat or drink. After much testing including labwork, EKG, catscans, and ultrasounds, it was determined that he needed gallbladder removal surgery.
He was admitted into the hospital, where additional tests were performed (MRI and nuclear imaging). Inexplicably, the hospital did not operate and discharged him a day later.
Since then, he has followed up both with his primary care physician and a referring surgeon, both advising that the surgery needs to happen soon.
Two weeks ago, Wally had an endoscopy. In two weeks from now, he is scheduled for the gallbladder surgery.
The amount requested in this fundraising campaign does not include any bills from his hospital experience last month, nor against what he has already outlaid for the endoscopy; it's what is needed for the upcoming surgery and related post-op care as he recovers. The surgery must be paid in full by the time of service, or be canceled. All contributions to this GoFundMe campaign will go directly to Wally for this surgery. I am simply setting up the campaign but only he will have the ability to transfer any funds.
Please consider contributing to his cause if you can and send good vibes his way. The ultimate goal is for him to receive the medical treatment that he needs and restore some quality of life. Let's get Wally back to work creating music which brings us joy and inspires us all.
