Raymond Anderson, his battle through cancers.
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Judy Lardo. This fundraiser is to support my brother-in-law Raymond Anderson, who has been battling cancer for several years. Ray has been married to my sister for 50 years, and has been part of my family for practically my whole life. He was always fun to have around as I grew up, always making jokes and calling me nicknames. He has a son and a daughter who are married, along with six beautiful grandchildren. They love their grandfather so much :).
Ray was diagnosed with stage 4 bladder cancer in 2019. He was fortunate and blessed to be accepted into an experimental drug study at Roswell Hospital for his kind of cancer. Ray and his wife Becky, who has been his rock and his sole caretaker, have been doing everything to fight this cancer. Surgeries, radiation/chemotherapy treatments, doctor appointments, CAT scans, PET scans, several infections...all while the COVID-19 pandemic was going on. To say Ray was in and out of the hospital countless times would be an understatement. It was obviously very difficult watching him go through this very trying time, but they always stayed optimistic.
Unfortunately, optimism alone won't stop cancer. In 2022, Ray was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He again started with radiation/chemotherapy treatments. Still trying to recover from his fight with bladder cancer, he began a new fight. Ray had several side effects from the esophageal cancer treatment and needed to be hospitalized many times again. He needed scopes to locate internal bleeding and procedures including ablations to stop the bleeding and blood transfusions. It has been very hard for him to eat due to trouble swallowing from this cancer and treatment. These fights have taken a lot out of him. Unfortunately in August 2023 it was determined that his cancers have metastasized all over his body, including both his bladder area yet again, and his lungs and surrounding lymph nodes. We were told he can't be treated due to how frail Ray has become. He has been in the hospital due to many issues connected with these cancers and has now been released to go home and start hospice care.
This fundraiser to try to assist Ray and Becky with all the medical expenses they have incurred during these years of cancer treatment and the complications he has had. Becky has put her heart and soul into this fight right with Ray, and his family is at his side keeping him happy and comfortable at home on hospice. This Gofundme is to help ease worries and bring some peace of mind so that Becky and the rest of the family can enjoy their time with the husband, father, and grandfather.
As I was preparing this fundraiser for Ray and Becky, Ray's fight ended. He passed peacefully with his family at home. Anything you all can do is appreciated and most of all our prayers and condolences to Becky and her beautiful family. We love you so very much.
