Expressive Arts In Ghana
Greetings, I am Kate Donohue and 15 years ago I fell in love with Ghana. Since then, I have been contributing in
ways that I can to share the incredible arts, music, textiles and drama of Ghana. I took a group of expressive arts therapists to Nungua, Ghana last summer through the Cross Cultural Colloborative to share the indigeneous arts of Ghana. I also started a regional group of IEATA (the international expressive arts therapy association) in Nungua with arts educators from the visual arts, dance and drama fields. We also shared what we knew with the children and had many workshops with them. I would like to return to Nungua, Ghana to continue the volunteer work I started with the children and with the arts educators. I would also like to expand and work in the mental health facilities in Accra and Nungua and share the power of Expressive arts therapy (EXA) with the professionals and mental health clients in Nungua and Accra.
Please help me travel to Ghana again, share the power of EXA with the educators, children and mental health professionals and clients.
We need arts supplies: visual arts tool, musical instruments. drama props and more --,just basic supplies.
I want to continue to give back to Ghana, a country who has opened me to so much. I also want to give back to CCC for the incredible work they are doing with the young folks of Nungua. Please help me return to Ghana in 2015 with supplies and resources.
thank you for listening to my story and for helping me.
