My surgery was successful on August 29, 2022. Thanks to Dr. Milad and Dr. Dumanian for taking good care of me. My surgeon Dr. Milad said that 80% of African-American Women have fibroids. He said it's almost an epidemic because no one talks about it. The disparity is enormous. African American women are 2-3 times more likely to present with symptomatic (problems such as pain or bleeding) uterine fibroids.

Before my surgery, someone congratulated me on having a baby every day because they think I am pregnant. My name is Saudia Davis, I am not pregnant and can no longer have a baby. The irony is that my belly is holding at least 15lbs of FIBROIDS, which has robbed me of my ability to bear a child. I have a bowling ball, a grapefruit and a couple of orange size fibroids, stretching my uterus and causing the appearance of me being six months pregnant. I must have surgery to remove my uterus because the fibroids are resting on my bladder and bowls. Each day counts. My surgery is approaching fast, and I need to have my bill paid in full two weeks before surgery. Most of my professional work has been raising money for organizations. Now I am putting the focus on myself.
Keep in mind that July is Fibroid Awareness Month. Fibroids are benign (non-cancerous) muscle tumors of the uterus that can cause heavy menstrual bleeding, pain, bowel or bladder problems, and infertility. NO ONE TALKS ABOUT IT... Including me until now.
In the United States, an estimated 26 million women between the ages of 15 and 50 have uterine fibroids. More than 15 million of them will experience associated symptoms or health concerns.
