I brought bibles but found out we need more help.

My name is Jeremiah Shattuck, a disabled combat veteran, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting the Shipibo tribe during my missionary trips. When I returned from Iraq, I was in a dire state. The Garcia-Fernandez family, experts in Amazonian plant medicine, played a pivotal role in my recovery by sharing their knowledge and plants to alleviate my PTSD. Their treatment was successful, sparking my commitment to support the Shipibo community over the past 12 years. I've been traveling to Peru, providing knowledge, resources, medicine, and education, including putting children through school. My missionary efforts involve distributing Bibles, learning the Shipibo language, and engaging in prayer and fasting with the tribe in the heart of the jungle. A few years ago, other missionaries built a church in the village, a testament to our collective dedication and faith.
Despite my consistent efforts, I encountered obstacles. In 2020, I was denied entry to Peru due to pandemic-related border closures, resulting in the loss of funds invested in flights. Additionally, a small team intending to assist me in building and teaching indigenous people to read God's word never received refunds from the airlines. This setback was compounded by a battle with cancer, leaving me wheelchair-bound and on the brink of death. Through fervent prayer and divine grace, I experienced a miraculous recovery, regaining mobility and entering remission.
Upon my return to Peru on March 7th, 2024, with minimal funds, I discovered Tomas, the eldest son of the Garcia-Fernandez family, in dire straits. Despite his efforts, Tomas has been unable to secure consistent work for over six months, jeopardizing his ability to pay for the land parcel and home he built. His family lives in substandard conditions, lacking running water and proper sanitation. Recently, I gave Tomas his first Bible, emphasizing the importance of faith in overcoming challenges.
Tomas faces imminent eviction due to being five months behind on mortgage payments. He has paid a significant portion of the mortgage but urgently needs $3,500 to secure his home by March 20th, 2024. I appeal to your generosity to help prevent the loss of Tomas's home and provide stability for his family. The remainder of his debt with the bank is only $3500 and he would be a home owner and no more payments ever again.
In addition to securing Tomas's home, I believe we can work together to lead him to Christ by demonstrating compassion and support. I have witnessed Tomas's kindness firsthand and am indebted to him for saving me from despair and the grim reality of veteran suicides.
Your contributions will not only assist Tomas's family but also enable me to continue my missionary work, spreading hope and love among the Shipibo community. Any surplus funds will be used to purchase Bibles written in Shipibo, facilitating Bible studies and spiritual growth among the tribe. I will buy a solar panel for the dinning hut, “comedor”, so we don’t have to read in the dark. For now it’s only candles and flashlights if they have one.
I implore you to share this message and consider making a donation. Together, we can transform lives and make a meaningful impact on the Shipibo community. Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your consideration.
We have expanded our goal as we received enough to secure Tomas home.
Aleja and her kids need a new roof for their home. A private donation was made from Sonrise Church in Cedar City UTAH after taking a collection on a Sunday church service. We received exactly the amount the estimation was to buy all the materials for reconstruction and a new roof. Right now we are in down pour of rain. It is quite a disaster for the family . That’s just one of the tragedies. Her husband left her for another woman not to long ago and now has child with someone else. There is no plan for him to ever return to their union. She’s unable to ever afford to pay for the work to complete her roof. She spends her time with her kids trying to catch fish to sell for more things other than what they can catch and find in the jungle to harvest tl eat. We are in need of your support to be able to pay a crew of carpenters to come and install the materials and build a new roof. Our goal is to raise another $1000 to pay the carpenters to complete this goal. We also are in touch with Marleni a wonderful soul who is a nurse. Unfortunately she was let go of work and faces trouble trying to find another position to work. As of now she takes on her laundry for her Two kids and husband and the neighbors in the community to earn some bread for the table. It is a big struggle for it the indigenous community to make enough money to feed themselves. With all her efforts she faces a severe consequence for washing so many cloths having her hands in chemicals in soap and if suffering from a extreme eczema. I brought food to their home and talked about how the Lord had healed me as they made food and prepared a wonderful meal for me.
I thought maybe I could have the old laundry machine repaired and it cannot be repaired . A new top quality laundry machine would be about $525 dollars. Things here are very simple and not extravagant. Right now I’m living in the most unclean and dangerous conditions yet im overflowing with joy as the Lord is leading me to people who need the love of God and provision.
There is a man in our visllge who has theee infected teeth that need to be removed immediately . I would like to help this man. We need $500 to remove the three teeth and provide his transportation and night stay in the city. Please consider to help. He asked not to post his face from sheer embarrassment of his dental hygiene. With the extreme conditions these beautiful people live in brushing their teeth is the least of worries and the lack of education makes it of no importance. However infections are serious and his life can be at extreme risk due to these infected teeth.
the Shipibo Bible .
Thois is our area, “ el comedor” , for sharing the gospel . I would like to purchase a solar power system so that we do not have to study the word of God and read the gospel in the dark. $1200 would secure a whole system that would be able to provide electricity to have lights run and not have to read under candle light . Each person needs a candle to read their own Bible . Unfortunately they can’t even afford candles so I am providing candles for everyone so we can share Gods word.
I look forward to receive the provisions from our spiritual family. I know that all of you who make a donation will be blessed. We here in the jungle are praying daily to bless the hands of the people at work in hearing the calling and working in the harvest field with their tithe, with their donation, with t be r love for their brothers and sisters in Christ . I will be here on mission until May 13 2024 . Anyone who would like to come join me may leave me a personal email. I will respond within 24 hours. Transitionthewarrior.org
