From our humble hearts, we offer this chant for the healing of all life on the planet
Håfa adai,
My name is Dakota Camacho and I am a close friend of a beloved member of our community, Jeremy N.C. Cepeda.
In August of 2023, our dear che’lu Jeremy Cepeda was diagnosed with oral cancer.
Due to the lack of medical care available on island, he has temporarily relocated to Oregon to stay with relatives while receiving care. Due to the extent of the treatments, Jeremy will be staying in the Pacific Northwest for longer than expected.
His family has graciously offered all of the help they can, and yet Jeremy and his family are in need of more support. As unbelievable as it sounds, the cost of living is statistically higher in Oregon than in Guåhan. The funds from this crowdsourcing campaign will be used to help Jeremy cover rent, medications and other medical supplies, special food and drink items especially while undergoing chemotherapy and the upcoming radiation treatments, gas and transportation expenses. And eventually, airfare for his journey home.
So many of us have benefited greatly from Jeremy’s dedication to our language and culture. He’s been a teacher in the public schools for well over a decade, answered translation requests at all hours of the night, & volunteered much of his time to community organizations as a teacher, speaker, master of ceremonies & so much more. Now is an opportune time for those of us who have been supported by Jeremy in the past to show our love for him now.
All kinds of support are welcome and encouraged. Prayers, cards, text messages, phone calls, donations, and anything else you can think of. Whatever you are able to offer is deeply appreciated.
Jeremy wants to let everyone know that it's his faith in I Yahúlulo' (The Creator, the Most High) and the prayers and support from family and friends that sustain him through the most difficult of times. On behalf of Jeremy, his family, and his close friends, we thank you all in advance for your generosity and support for our CHe’lu as he continues his wellness journey.
And we give thanks to I Yahúlulo’ and Migai Mina’åse’ to everyone for their continued thoughts and prayers.
