I had a life threatening illness Sepsis

Hello all,

My name is Marissa, on Sunday June, 4th I went into the emergency room very I’ll, I had a high fever, my respiratory was low and my pulse was extremely high, I was diagnosed with sepsis due to an infection in my groin, I had blood poisoning and it was spreading very fast. I was told that if I leave I would die. I was then admitted into the Salem hospital were I stayed from Sunday night until today June 8th. I had surgery, and was on a lot of medications while at the hospital, they removed the infection and I have a very large open wound from the surgery. I have never in my life experienced anything like this and it was very scary, I have an 11 year old son who was in my mothers care while I was at the hospital, he was scared for his mom, and I remained as strong as I could for him, it hurt to see him see me this way, because alls he is used to seeing is his mom being very strong for him and a fighter. I have never done anything like this before but I am asking for help from my friends and family or anyone that can help. I don’t qualify for OFLA, FMLA or anything like that as I have only worked at my job for 6 months as of today, and therefore I am scared that I won’t be able to pay rent for this month due at the end of the month or any of my other bills, food etc. I missed out on a week of work this week and my surgeon is not releasing me back to work for awhile, so without FMLA, OFLA etc I will not have compensation and that is the check that would pay my rent and help me so I really could use help! I am a single mom, live alone with my son, I am not married, and I am enrolled in college pursing a career in nursing, I work nights at my job to go to school, and I take care of my son. I do everything I can to support my baby, and I work really hard, this was a unfortunate situation that could of taken my life and I’m grateful it didn’t, I’m grateful to be breathing and going home to my son. If anyone can help some I’d appreciate it very much. Thank you all and much love.
