I Scream Love, SF
Tax deductible
Join us for "I SCREAM LOVE," a celebration of community spirit and a commitment to rewrite the narrative and transform San Francisco with kindness, one ice cream cone at a time.
Created by Robyn Sue Fisher in response to a hate crime to her flagship ice cream shop, this initiative is a city-wide movement to foster unity through the simple joy of ice cream. The holistic vision is to overpower the "loudness" of amplified division with exponentially louder screams of love and humanity - in the witty and humanizing form of ice cream ("i scream"). This movement is anchored in and symbolized by the consortium of ice cream company owners who have united across neighborhoods and competitive lines to "scream love" together and to offer their shops as gathering spots for people to participate in the "I SCREAM LOVE" challenge. We believe that having ice cream with another person can really, truly, make the world a better place.
CAMPAIGN COMPONENTS
1) The Viral “I SCREAM LOVE” Challenge: Launching on National Ice Cream Day, Sunday, July 21st, and running through the end of October 2024, the consortium of ice cream partners will begin by announcing the #ISCREAMLOVE challenge on their social channels. The challenge is -
- Connect with someone 1:1 over an ice cream scoop while completing the “I SCREAM LOVE Ice Breaker Chat.” With the help of the education team behind The Courage Museum & Education Center, we have created the “I SCREAM LOVE Ice Breaker Chat” & guidelines and thoughtful conversation starters that peel back the layers of assumptions to reveal the humanity that unites us all. *The “I SCREAM LOVE Ice Breaker Chat” cards will be handed out at participating ice cream shops (and downloadable online) and can be completed in less than 5 minutes over scoops.
- Take a photo or a short clip to document your experience – this can be a photo/video of yourself with your Challenge buddy or a photo of your ice cream, whatever you are comfortable with that documents your participation.
- Share the photo/clip on social media with the hashtag #ISCREAMLOVE and challenge 3 other people to do the I SCREAM LOVE challenge.
- If you can, pay it forward by donating the cost of a scoop to the "I SCREAM LOVE" campaign.
2) Attend an Ice Cream Social: 12+ ice cream shops throughout San Francisco will host "ice cream socials," inviting the community to engage in the "I SCREAM LOVE challenge." Here, flavors mingle, stories intertwine, and connections are forged.
3) Support: Through the viral challenge and beyond, we are hoping to raise money to support the campaign and to help fund the Courage Museum’s signature youth leadership and education program to help prevent hate, discrimination and violence. Donations can be made directly through this fundraiser hosted by GoFundMe.org, our fiscal sponsor. You can also join our email list to get up-to-date information here.

Let's churn up a wave of positivity and melt away hate [couldn't help but get a little punny]! Ice cream is a powerful force that transcends geographies and belief systems and reminds us of our "inner child;" It brings the temperature down a notch, literally and figuratively, and allows us to connect on a more human level.
As ice cream shop owners, we know that ice cream changes the mood in the room -- and we are determined to use it as a power for good!
